Sessions:

I use several modalities to help each person I work with. Each individual is different and each session will be different from the last.  I want to go on a journey with you to discover the underlying causes of what ails you. Whether your distress is related to a forgotten trauma or a recent one; we will dive deep into the core of the cause to help you heal, your mind, body, and soul. For most individuals, most issues are related to thought, attitude, perception, and even what we eat. Therefore, this journey of discovery will include a deep look into your life, including your sleeping habits, exercise habits, diet and so much more. I don’t believe in band-aids, I believe in cures.

We will use many different avenues during our sessions, and each session is bespoke to you and your personal life’s journey. Positive Alturic Psychology Therapies will be the basis for all sessions to help bring about a change from negative to positive.

Meet The Founder

Professional Me: I began working/volunteering at the age of 13. I worked in labor and delivery at the hospital until I was old enough to apply for a job. I then worked in home health care for many years. Afterward, I went to massage therapy school and owned my own business as a massage therapist. I also worked in the emergency department of the hospital for several years.  I began college at the local community college in the early 90s, where I took most of my basics, majoring in psychology with a focus on substance abuse.  Later on, I continued my college career, studying in the field of nursing.  From there, I went to the local university and obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology. My next endeavor was to obtain my master's in psychology.  I continued my education and obtained a double master's degree in psychology. Throughout my college years, I have also studied, sound therapy, light therapy, herbal medicine, energy work (Reiki), nature therapy, etc.

To this day, I continue studying in all these areas to increase my knowledge and understanding and to help others. Life is a journey, and we should never stop learning new and innovative ways to heal ourselves.

Basically, I have been studying medicine and psychology my entire life. I have worked as a counselor/psychotherapist with my patients in healthcare, massage therapy, in daily life, and as a psychotherapist for approximately 40 years now with over 20 years' worth (and still counting) of studying in these fields.

I do not diagnose, I hate labels, I do not prescribe medicine, only a licensed psychiatrist can do that, (psychologists do not prescribe medicine). If you haven't figured it out by now, I do, however, recommend natural remedies; such as herbs, spices, diet changes, meditations, sound therapy, light therapy, nature therapy etc. If I feel that Western medicine is needed, I am not against recommending anyone to see their doctor. In some cases, Western medicine is needed. Lifestyle changes, such as diet, herbs, etc. work well overtime, they are not a quick fix or band-aid and in some cases, a quick fix is needed.

Personal Me: I am totally in love with so many things in this world; including, foraging, herbs, collecting rocks of all kinds, trees, energy healing, meditation, and more.  I fully believe in healing the mind, body, and spirit. Basically, I just love nature and all it has to offer. I love learning new things.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. I look forward to taking this journey with you and hope my site will offer you something new to learn. More modalities and therapies will be offered as I continue my studies into Ayurveda to become a full practitioner. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Let's Talk a Little About Alturic Psychotherapy

Talking about our emotions is a powerful way to heal and grow.
It is intended that you experience an intimate healing session of peace and serenity.

Psychotherapy allows people to vent their frustrations, anxieties, and fears in an open, non-judgmental, safe place. This is a safe and anonymous place to “just get it off your chest”.  We do not always have someone to talk to about our feelings. Sometimes, we feel all alone and just need someone to listen to us. You may be just having a bad day/week and are not in need of actual therapy, you just need a friend, a sounding board to allow you to just freely discuss your problems.
You may not be able to vent to your friends and/or family. Especially if they are the ones we need to vent about. In this case, you are more than welcome to simply use one of the open groups to just make a simple post without making an appointment and are completely free of charge.

It's not easy to open up and be vulnerable about you and your feelings, but we all have them.

However, if you feel that you are in need of speaking with a therapist, you can contact me and make an appointment where We can speak one-on-one and address the issues you are going through, whether it is anxiety, coping with general issues, family related issues, personal growth, etc., we can work together and discover healthy alternative
ways to deal with the emotions and look for avenues of which to help you overcome, rectify, forgive, understand, to grow and give some relief to some of life’s most difficult times.

  • Psychotherapy and other interventions can help a person address specific issues. These might include self-defeating ways of thinking, fears, problems with interactions with other people, or dealing with situations at home, at school or with employment. Helping a person become aware of ways of thinking that may be automatic but are inaccurate and harmful. (An example might be someone who has a low opinion of his or her own abilities.) The therapist helps the person find ways to question these thoughts, understand how they affect emotions and behavior, and try ways to change self-defeating patterns. This approach is central to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

  • I provide supportive counseling to help a person explore troubling issues and provide emotional support.

  • Identify ways to cope with stress.

  • Examine in depth a person’s interactions with others and offer guidance with leadership development, social and communication skills, if needed.

  • Relaxation and mindfulness techniques such as meditation, getting out into nature, exercise, and diet.

  • How to track emotions and activities and the impact of each on the other.

  • Recognize warning signs, and thinking about and understanding coping strategies, such as using meditation techniques, self-care, contacting friends, family, or emergency personnel.

Group I is a private group and Group II is open to the public and easy to access. Both groups allow for anonymous postings. This is where you can get together with others or alone and just vent something out.  As stated above, we don't always need a full session, sometimes we just want to scream something out and vent for a minute. These groups were made for just that. Shout out what is bothering you and move on, or join a discussion with others, either way, the groups are free for anyone to use.

I've also included links to our recipe page where I post new healthy recipes from time to time, if you have a healthy recipe you want to share with others you can post it here.

I have included Altura's main Facebook page as well. Here you will find general postings. Come join us for fun and learning.
